Quebec Tax Data Download

Revenu Québec's Tax Data Download service is an important tool that will allow you to streamline the preparation of your income tax return. This service is available starting in early March.

What you need to know:

  1. Data available for download

    • T4E - Statement of Employment Insurance and Other Benefits

Note: In the download, the information with regards to the T4A(OAS), the T4E and the RC62 represents the information that is held by Revenu Québec. This is because the Canada Revenu Agency (CRA) is not involved in any manner whatsoever with the tax data download service. Therefore, this implies that you should always corroborate such downloaded information with the information received from the federal since there may be discrepancies between the information held by Revenu Québec and the information held by the CRA.

    Instalment payments you made

Note: Only certain data related to instalment payments you made is available for download.

    Interest paid by Revenu Québec

Data related to interest paid by Revenu Québec is available for download.

  2. You must have entered Québec as your province of residence on December 31, 2017 on the Identification page in order for the Revenu Québec Tax Data Download page to appear.

  3. The data download involves an important principle. In certain cases, an amount may have multiple treatments possible on the income tax return for Quebec and/or on the federal return. In such a case, the appropriate treatment of the amount can often only be established once all the information is available (for example, following the examination of the federal slip). Therefore, when you download tax data, it is essential that you verify the data entry, because in cases where multiple treatments are possible for an amount (on the income tax return for Québec and/or on the federal return), the program has associated the amount with a plausible treatment considering the information available. For this reason, you must validate such assumptions when such assumptions were made. For example, when you receive an RL-1 slip (Relevé 1) with an amount reported in box O associated to code RB, the program cannot establish the appropriate treatment for federal purposes. Indeed, for federal purposes, multiple treatments are possible for scholarships/fellowships/bursaries based on the type of scholarships/fellowships/bursaries involved (i.e. whether it is an elementary and secondary school scholarship, a post-secondary school scholarship or a post-doctoral fellowship). Considering that we do not know the type of scholarships/fellowships/bursaries involved simply by examining the RL-1 slip, the program has associated by default the amount with post-secondary education. This assumption may be incorrect. Therefore, when an amount has multiple treatments possible on the income tax return for Quebec and/or on the federal return (and when the program has associated the amount with a particular treatment), you must modify the data entry if the particular treatment associated to the amount does NOT correspond to your situation.
